How to spot a fraudulent overseas job offer

BMET receives hundreds of complaints a year. Here are the seven red flags we tell every applicant to check before paying a single taka.

Every year BMET receives 400+ complaints from Bangladeshis who paid "agents" for overseas jobs that did not exist. We are BMET-registered and only work with vetted employers — but here is the public checklist we want every applicant to know. The seven red flags: 1. The agent asks for money BEFORE providing a visa copy 2. The "employer" address is a PO Box, not a real street address 3. The salary promise is wildly above the market median (>20% above) 4. No BMET-issued Emigration Clearance (EC) is mentioned 5. The agent insists on cash payment, no receipt 6. The contract is in English but the employer is in Arabic only — the Arabic version has different terms 7. The "interview" happens on WhatsApp with no physical verification If you spot 2 or more — stop. Call BMET at +880 02 883 5555 or request a free review from us.
